The Lodge is owned and operated by the Kresge family. They left the big city for the life of the mountains and have promised never to return. Carol hosted the guests for years ~ now she spends her time caring for her children and dogs in nearby Breckenridge. The home was originally built as a luxury Bed and Breakfast in 1996. In 1998, the Kresge's bought it and equipped it with the amenities of a luxury hotel and opened Carolina in the Pines, named for Carol's grandmother and the song by Michael Martin Murphy. Over the years, The Lodge has become a popular rental home for corporate groups and families and friends traveling together, and has hosted dozens of simple and elegant weddings. In 2005, the owner's apartment was added to the Lodge to create an 8000 sf home with 12 bedrooms and 12.5 bathrooms. The added greatroom is home to a pool table, extra big screen TV, poker table, foosball, and piano to top off the ultimate vacation rental. Amy Carlson Phelps manages The Lodge and lives nearby to help you with anything you need. Amy can help plan your next corporate retreat, coordinate catering for a family dinner, or hold your hand through wedding planning. |
